The Annual Scientific Meeting of the Astronomical Society of Australia (ASA) for 2019 will be held at the beautiful University of Queensland St Lucia Campus, Brisbane, QLD, Australia. The campus is located approximately 5 km south of the CBD and is easily accessible by train, bus or even ferry!
Information on good places to stay and how to get to the venue can be found under "Accommodation" and "Getting around Brisbane". Transport from the airport to the city is also very easy, with some options listed under "Flight Information".
The conference will be held in the Parnell building. This is in the main quad.
We have included some information for attendees giving talks, posters or chairing sessions as downloadable PDFs at the following links:
Attendees at other conferences recently have reported it is becoming common for scammers to phone up offering to book accommodation to try and steal credit card information. Please be on the look out for this. The organisers for ASA 2019 will NOT phone you up offering to book accommodation.

The nicest way to get to UQ from the CBD, South Bank, West End, or Milton, is by CityCat on the river. To pay for your ferry ticket you can use your goCard or buy a paper ticket. Paper tickets need cash and payment is taken on the ferry. No debit/credit cards accepted.
Brisbane also has an extensive public transport network of buses and trains. The Loop is a free bus service that runs through Brisbane's Central Business District. It has numerous major stops including Central Station, Queen Street Mall, Botanic Gardens, Riverside Centre, QUT and King George Square. For all other paying bus services you will again need a goCard or cash, with the former strongly preferable. Children under five years travel free and those aged five to fifteen years travel for half price. You can pick up bus timetables from Council Customer Service Centres, Queen Street Bus Station Information Centre, Garden City Bus Interchange, newsagents, and libraries.
TransLink coordinates the bus, train and ferry services throughout south-east Queensland. For more information about fares, timetables, tickets and services please visit the Queensland transport website.
Finally, as with most universities, parking at St Lucia campus is extremely limited. It will fill up by 7:30am in the mornings even outside of semesters. We do not recommend you drive; public transport is the way to go!
