Venue

The 2019 Harley Wood School of Astronomy will be held at the Moreton Bay Research Station on North Stradbroke Island, QLD, Australia. Transport to the island will be by ferry and is inlcuded in . Please see below for information on how to get to the ferry terminal.

Getting to and from North Stradbroke Island

All attendees will take the ferry from Cleveland to North Stradbroke Island.

If you plan on arriving to Brisbane on the day of the HWSA: We will have a bus service to transport attendees from the airport to the ferry. The bus will depart from the airport at approximately 2pm on Thursday the 4th of July, so please ensure that you arrive at the airport well before then. The bus and ferry fares are covered in the registration fee.

If you are already in Brisbane: You will have to make your way to the ferry terminal yourself. Please contact someone on the LOC and we can potentially arrange transport for you.

On return, all attendees will take the ferry from North Stradbroke Island back to the mainland.

If you plan on leaving Brisbane on Sunday the 7th July: We will have a bus service to transport attendees from the ferry terminal to Brisbane airport. The bus is scheduled to arrive at the airport at approximately 4pm, however due to potential traffic or delays attendees should avoid booking any flights leaving Brisbane before 5pm (and preferably even 6pm). Again, the fares are covered in the registration fee.

If you are staying in Brisbane for the ASA meeting: A bus service will be provided to take participants from the ferry terminal to Brisbane city centre. We remind ASA attendees that there is a welcome reception at the State Library from 6pm on Sunday 7th July; the bus should get you back to the city in plenty of time for this.

Accommodation

Accommodation at Moreton Bay Research Station is fully covered under the registration fee. Attendees will likely have 4 person shared rooms. Single occupancy rooms will be provided for guest speakers.

Meals

Meals for the HWSA 2019 are fully covered under the registration fee. They have been included as an free Event and included in the registration for reporting purposes and tracking any dietary requirements. When registering please select the Event for "All Meals", which will then enable you to input any dietary requirements you may have. This can be modified at a later date using the "Check Registration" feature on the registration page. Alternatively, contact asa2019@uq.edu.au directly to provide any additional information.

Getting around Brisbane and to and from the airport

As stated above, transport to and from the airport to the HWSA 2019 venue is being organised for attendees. However, it you plan on staying in Brisbane afterwards the "Getting around Brisbane" and "Flight Information" sections on the ASA 2019 site may be of use.
